A JOURNEY TO HEALTH

  SENDING AN S.O.S.

A student of nutrition, I am inspired to share my personal challenges with nutrition. My name is Paulette Laster, and I am a sugarholic.

Do you crave sweets or is your kryptonite salty foods? I hope that you will join me on a journey to health and share your nutritional challenges in this blog.

If you're like me, you have a food addiction. For me, Demet's Chocolate Turtles are my kryptonite and has been my biggest downfall. I have had a love affair with chocolate my whole life. Recently, my body showed signs of distress through a severe outbreak of eczema. It took years, but I finally had an epiphany that the outbreaks were due to the constant barrage of sugar. Duh!

With the aid of Sugarproof tea, prayer, and a strong resolve to be in control, I was able to get my sugar cravings under control and find relief from eczema. Note the keyword, under control. Self- control concerning eating has been a major problem for people since the days of Adam and Eve. When we gain self-control over our eating habits, we can gain self-control in almost anything.

Eating hyperpalatable food (HPF), foods high in salt, oil, and sugar (S.O.S.), or carbohydrates trigger the brain's reward system leading to overindulgence. When we overeat, the body can go into distress and send an S.O.S. signal, the body's way of calling for help when in crisis.  When you recognize the S.O.S. signals your body is sending, take action. Gain control of the eating habits thwarting your health. Rather than going to the doctor for a prescription, begin eating life-giving foods.

When you give your body what it needs, good nutrition, it thrives. Splurging a little now and then but not everyday, is ok when done in moderation. Aids like Sugarproof  tea is a helpful solution. In fact, aids are sometimes needed to support us on our journey to health.

Join me on a journey to health. Share your nutritional challenges. Together we can find simple solutions to help you thrive.

  1. I have an unhealthy love affair with sugar. Breaking it is like trying to break off heavy chains.

  2. Hey Coach Paulette. I am so excited about your blog posts to keep me inspired in 2024. Just today, I caught myself wanting to add sugar to my Lavender Tea. That would have been a mistake.
